Welcome to Pearse Locomotives Ltd, manufacturers of high quality locomotive models.

Pearse Locomotives began in 1992 combining the locomotive design and building skills of Ian Pearse, with the artistic designs in etched brass of his father Donald.  The venture sprang from the enjoyment they both derived from railways and railway modelling. Pearse Locomotives Ltd has developed through growth from the initial company, and continues to manufacture the complete range of locomotives with the same attention to detail by the original workforce.

The locomotives are constructed from the highest quality materials with the working parts being manufactured to close tolerances using up to date computer controlled machinery, giving an excellent accuracy and finish. The chassis and valve gear are produced in top quality steel, with the bodies being manufactured from etched brass, with full authentic rivet detail where necessary.  Castings in brass enhance the appearance and add to the character of the engines.

We believe that when producing models of locomotives which exist (or have existed) it is essential to get all the details correct as this adds to the aesthetic pleasure of owning our models. All our locomotives are designed for internal gas firing.  This enables them to be used in all weather conditions, or even indoors in complete safety.  All engines are powered by our piston valve cylinders, which are fitted with 'O' rings on piston valve rods and piston heads. Our locomotives are designed with ease of service and operation in mind.  On all models cab roofs tilt to allow access to the water filling cap, the lubricator and the gas inlet valve. All filling caps are knurled so as to be user friendly.  Boilers are fitted with water level taps which are piped away below the footplate and lubricators have under floor drain valves. This means it is possible to keep the cabs clean and free from excess oil and water.

Engines have been designed for ease of dismantling so when they do require a general overhaul they will not be "off the road" for long or cost the earth in parts and labour.

We are sensitive to our customers' requirements and always ready to listen to comments and suggestions. Our products carry a one-year parts and labour warranty.  When this guarantee has expired we aim to provide a complete support service at an economic rate. Pearse Locomotives are built to give a lifetime of pleasure, both in the elegance of a mantelpiece model, and in hours of running on the line.
